S is for Special Trips to SpectrUM!

We had a great day... and the weather was wonderful!
We began at SpectrUM, and hands on science center.  We heard a little bit of "Horton Hears a Who" to help us get thinking about the little things that we can't even see.

And then, we used our sense of smell to think about "nano-size."
Our instructors put some liquid scent into some balloons and we had to try and
figure out what we smelled.
Those kindergartners have great sniffers! They figured all of them out!

After that, we just got to explore. We love science!

Then we made our way across campus to the Adams Center.
We walked through the "Hall of Champions" and found our very own Mrs. Smith.
We ran into this cool grizzly bear!

And then... the best part of the day... we got to run down the tunnel and play on the football field at Washington Grizzly Stadium!  We played football, catch and practiced somersaults, cartwheels and handstands. And then we tried to yell "Go GRIZ" so loud that the hikers on the "M" could hear us. And I think they did! It was a blast!

8 Days and Counting...

Okay... I'm not really counting... more dreading the last day....
BUT, we still have lots of fun left to have. And believe it or not, the kids are still proving to me each day how much they have learned, and how hard they are still working! They are amazing!

Here's a glimpse of some of our recent fun!

I have an AWESOME family! My sister Brynn, and cousin Kealey are Oula instructors,
and they joined us last week for "O is for Oula" day! We turned the music up loud
and had an awesome dance fitness party! Turtle Team kids LOVE Oula...
especially "Call Me Maybe!"

Don't forget... "R is for Rock & Roll!" We had some great music to listen to while we worked.
The fun surprise? We made "rock & roll" ice cream! We used an ice cream ball. YUM!

"Ms. Molloy... the flash makes my eyes flap!"

Wednesday is our trip to the University of Montana. We'll visit SpectrUM first, and then head to the Field House to have a tour and play on the football field. Hoping for decent weather! It can rain when we get back! Ha!

Thursday is "T is for Time." We'll read a great book and build our own clocks to learn a little bit about telling time.

Friday is "U for Under." We'll do some Unusual activities, including working Under the tables!

If your child didn't bring a cd for rock and roll day, feel free to send one in any day this week! We'll make time to listen to them!

As always, thank you so much for helping us make kindergarten learning fun and exciting!
Thanks for checking in... don't stay gone too long!

Picnic Party Fun!

Here's a little snapshot of some of the fun we had at the park today!

Thank you PEAS Farm!

We had great weather for our field trip today!
We started with a picnic at the park... nothing like a little spinning after you eat lunch, right?

Then we ventured across the bridge to the PEAS Farm.
We learned that the most important thing about the PEAS Farm is that it's a community farm - which means it's for EVERYONE! We thought that was cool!

Jason was our guide. He told us all about the farm.
We had the chance to pet chickens that are a bit older than ours. We couldn't believe how fast they grow!

We got to taste several different things. It was exciting to try new things. Jason told us that if we promised to try the new things, and we didn't like them, it would be okay to spit it out. (Can you imagine how many eager taste testers we had?? THEY ALL DID!)
We tried freshly picked bok choy, kale, mustard leaves and lettuce. We also got to try some carrots and beets. Jason likes to call beets "farm candy" because they are so sweet.

We also got to feed the pigs! They were so cute! We learned that pigs don't really have pink skin... they are actually really pale. They just look pink because they get sunburned, just like us!

What a great day! We are looking forward to our picnic fun on Thursday!

So much fun!

Our weeks have been filled with fun and excitement!
Check it out!

Clover from Wild Rose Emu Ranch came to talk to us about how emus hatch, grow and help people. She taught us different emu sounds and let us hold an emu egg!

 F is for Fitness!
We had fun trying out different exercises while we looped around the park behind school!

G is for Game Day!
We had so much fun playing board games that we had to get them out the next day too!!

 OUR BABY CHICKS HATCHED!
Stay tuned for more photos and chatter about how exciting that was!
We get to hold the chicks this week - which will be so exciting!

L is for Lollipops!
We had fun using our senses to write about our lollipops!
It took a little self control to not lick the lollipop right away!
YUM!!

This week will be filled with more alphabet countdown fun!
